Tonight we went to our friend Theresa’s 30th birthday dinner. It was a surprise dinner put on by her boyfriend Michael and it was so much fun! Theresa is such an awesome person so we were honored to share her day with her and her closest friends.
We went to one of my favorite restaurants in Atlanta, Parish. It is AMAZING and I was super excited when I found out that is where we were having dinner. We also got to eat downstairs in the market at a large communal table that sat all 15 of us.
For an appetizer Travis and I split the Charcuterie Plate of three cured meats, a homemade ale mustard, house made pickles, and toast.
I’m not a pork rind person, but these were really good. Not exactly the same as sold in a gas station. I didn’t try the fat because I’m not really into eating fat without meat on it, but Travis liked it! One the far right was a pork sausage type spread that was super good especially with the mustard.
For dinner I settled on good ole fried chicken. As a southern girl I am very picky about my fried chicken and this did not disappoint. It came with collards and stone ground grits, enough said. I’m even more picky with my grits.
Travis tried the burger and I wish I had tried a bite because it had fried green tomatoes and pimento cheese. I mean c’mon that is fantastic!
The best was yet to come and I wasn’t even prepared for the best cupcake I had ever tasted IN MY LIFE. I admit I can be dramatic at times, but this isn’t one of those times.
Let me just say that I have had A LOT of cupcakes in my day so I consider myself a good critic on these small cakes. That being said, this was the BEST one I’ve ever had. I’m usually a german chocolate girl, but this strawberry cupcake was OUT OF THIS WORLD. The most surprising part about the whole thing was the icing. I would rather have cake without icing but not this time. This icing tasted like strawberry ice cream. It wasn’t overly sweet and had the perfect strawberry flavor. I will be going to the cupcake store and buying more flavors.
It was such a fun night and I hope Theresa had just as much fun!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY, THERESA!!!
