Rain Weather Meals

January 30, 2013

Today’s weather was crazy!

rain

Tornado warnings were in effect all day and rain was constant. I left work early since the street in front of work looked like it was going to flood and I was not about to be stranded. Luckily the rest of the roads to my house were fine and the rain subsided long enough for me to get home.

My workout plan for the day was to go to the gym after taking Harper on a run, but with a tornado being spotted and major rains I just stayed in and skipped the workout. To be honest I wasn’t really feeling a workout today anyway. I feel like everyone around me has been getting sick or feeling icky so I’m starting to think I may get something too. It could all be in my head like a phantom flu, but they other day at the gym a guy was coughing all over the place so maybe I’m not totally crazy.

For my eats I noticed I went straight for comfy rain weather meals starting with a bowl of oatmeal for breakfast.

Peanut butter, raspberry jam, almond milk, and flax were in this bowl.

Tomato and red pepper soup with blue corn tortilla chips for lunch.

And for dinner I was craving red meat so I grabbed a steak on my way home and roasted asparagus and brussel sprouts with mashed sweet potato on the side.

The steak turned out to be pretty awful and had a ton of fat so I only ate half, but my veggies were good so it wasn’t a total loss.

Now time for some tea and a book!

That’s so crazy it flooded so bad! Our parking deck flodded, as did the elevator shaft so they’re shut down. I always take the stairs anyway… but there were a lot of people bitching on the way up tonight. :)

I skipped my workout too. Which just means I’m going to have to hustle to sqeeze it in tomorrow before dinner!!! Can’t wait to catch up!

Yum, that soup looks wonderful. Stay safe in all the storms! We’re having crazy weather here in Michigan, too.

That picture of the flooding is crazy! Does the rain bother Harper? Murphy hates it.

As long as there’s no thunder she’s fine, but she hates a down pour if we’re running and get caught in it.

I couldn’t believe how flooded the roads were yesterday! Hopefully the sun will dry it all up today! Your eats look deeelicious! I’ve never thought to put jam in oatmeal, but that sounds really yummy!

Oh my–that does look like some crazy weather–seems like the perfect reason to skip a work-out and just relax!! :)

Is there anything better than a book and a mug of tea on a rainy day?

Except perhaps a giant bowl of oatmeal with peanut butter? :)
