Yesterday morning I headed out to take Harper on a run before the sun came out and beat us down with her 100° heat. The temps were mild, but once we started running my feet really started to hurt. I opted out of running and just power walked twice the distance to make up for it and get in a good workout.
I know the culprit isn’t anything having to do with my feet, but my shoes. I’m really bad and haven’t purchased new running shoes in over a year. It’s OK you can yell at me I can take it. It’s also bad because I stand at my job all day and my shoes are not very supporting so I’m needing a new work pair too.
Since I knew my shoes needed replacing I went after work and got fitted for a new pair that would give me comfort and support.
It was between this pair and another pair that had prettier colors, but I knew I couldn’t be swayed by that and needed comfort. The upside is that the yellow will stand out on dark mornings or night runs.
Now that I have my new shoes I can start running more and not just head to spin to avoid my feet pounding on a hard surface. I do love spin, but I prefer running outside if I have the choice. I’m not the only one that needs a good run;)
Speaking of choices we have no plans for tomorrow, but there are so many things to do that we can’t decide on just one. It’s gonna be HOT(shocker) so whatever it is we do I would like it to involve AC. Plus my face is still in the healing process from peeling off so that dwindles down a few more options.
So far I have the following ideas for the day:
- Sleep in and have a breakfast containing red, white, and blue. Berries mostly for color.
- Go on a run earlier in the day before it gets too hot
- Check out a matinee in the AC
- Grab a dinner that involves something grilled and a cup of this.
- Catch a fireworks show at one of the many locations in Atlanta or catch a Braves game.
It may not seem too exciting, but the easier and more laid back the better!
How are you spending your 4th of JULY?
