An outdoor workout wasn’t on my mind for today, but when I got home and got my gear on I felt instant guilt when I saw how excited Harper looked.
Those big brown eyes and tail wagging in such excitement to go outside I knew a walk just wasn’t going to cut it for her. We ran our 4 mile loop and once we got to the park near my house I stopped and finished with:
- 3 sets of 20 tricep dips(my arms are burning)
- 6 sets of 20 squats
- walking lunges of a very steep hill
- 2 minutes of high knees
I’m glad I opted for an outdoor workout rather than the gym because I actually did more work rather than get caught up watching TV on the elliptical. Turns out Harper was my motivational workout dog!
After my run and park workout I wanted a super simple dinner so I made grilled chicken and brussel sprouts.
I was planning on having a sweet potato to go with it, but it was taking way too long to bake so I settled for an actual sweet for dessert instead.
Sweet potatoes are nice, but it’s not chocolate;)
Some other eats I’ve been enjoying recently:
Oatmeal for breakfast with PB, raspberry preserves(love this stuff), flax meal, soy milk, and a little bit of brown sugar. I go back and forth with this morning meal and it’s been on my rotation for about 2 weeks now and I LOVE it!
I’ve been really good about eating my veggies lately and taking all my vitamins to ward off feeling sick, but occasionally I’ll need a pick me up.
I try not to have too many juices because of the sugar, but I am a HUGE fan of Arden’s Garden and drink one when I’m not feeling 100% and I think it helps my immunity(maybe it’s in my head but that’s cool)
Egg salad on Ezekiel with avocado and spinach is another meal that’s been a repeat for my lunches. If you’ve not tried it with avocado I highly recommend it! Delicious!
Have a great day and stay warm!
What’s your motivation to change a workout last minute? Do you prefer outside or inside in the cold months?

That’s great motivation. The hardest part is always getting started!
