Indulging

August 20, 2012

I like to think that I only indulge myself every now and then and that the rest of the time I’m super healthy. The reality is, however, that I’m healthy probably 70% of the time and 30% unhealthy. I’m totally okay with that and this weekend was a true example of my balance of the 70-30 rule.

I worked out both days and had my fair share of fruits, veggies, and lean proteins throughout the day Saturday, but once dinner time hit it was time to indulge.

I’ve mentioned how I always look for mashed potatoes first thing when going out to eat. The Pinewood is where we went with some friends and I was over the moon when I saw friend chicken and mashed potatoes. No need to see what else is on the menu this was it for me!

And to add to my southern girl dinner I ordered collard greens too.

After my second glass of Pinot I realized my eyes were way bigger than my stomach, but opted for yogurt after anyways!

It was Saturday night with friends, why not live it up!

Sunday morning I was feeling my second glass of red wine decision mixed with my yogurt choice that included dairy. Yikes! Let me tell you my body was not happy with me. So to help ease my wounds I went on a long run in the humid hot ass weather and continued the rest of the day baking goodies!

My headache/stomach aches slowly subsided as the day went on and I realized that this is why I don’t over do it too often. It’s not that I need to be healthier(or maybe I should), but more so that I should spread out my indulgences over a 4-5 hour range rather than 1-2. Fried chicken, heavy sides, wine, dessert, etc all stuffed down way too fast with maybe a few sips of water was not a good idea. Why do I think I still have the digestive system of a college student? I don’t and haven’t for a long time!

Next weekend I’ll know better and have my wine earlier in the day;)

What do you indulge in?

I had a similar affliction. I waited wayyyy to late to eat and shoveled down truffle fries at 1 am on cheat day. Whoops. but that yogurt is ALWAYS worth it. Love that place. :)

I always get ahead of myself when I “indulge” on some “non-healthy” food from time to time. It always leads to an upset tummy :( That entree does look good though & so worth it !

I’m a firm believer in indulging, but now that the weight if coming off, the indulgences are getting farther and farther apart because my stomach gets so angry with me! Bloating and and an upset stomach aren’t worth it anymore, I also need to learn to space out my indulgences :)
