Good Habits, Putting Myself First, and New Obsessions

Like everyone else I’m trying to better myself in the new year so after work I took Harper on a run that I thought would be miserably cold but turned out not so bad.

I broke out the light I spent ten dollars on when getting our numbers for the Thanksgiving half(yes that was two months ago and I’m just now using it) and we covered 3.5 miles. Even with the light I tried to go a route that was well-lit which turned out to be every hill in the neighborhood. It was tougher than I had planned but Harper didn’t seem phased at all. I don’t even think she was winded. She was just glad to be outside so she would’ve gone for a few more miles probably but I was getting hungry and that always takes precedence! We’ll go on a longer run later in the week. Too bad Ella isn’t a runner!!

This year I’ve vowed to be more conscious about the good habits I already practice like exercise, eating well, taking my vitamins, etc. The only thing I’m going to add to the mix is focusing on my mental health as well. By that I don’t mean that I’ll pick up meditating necessarily but be nicer to myself. I need to do what is best for me and what I want rather than do what I think others want of me. This will be a doosey since I’m such a people pleaser but I can do it!! I tend to commit to things I don’t really want to do out of obligation and I’m done with all that. Here’s to ME!!!

In other news, Travis got me an iPad for Christmas and it’s not left my side. Her name is “Patti” and I am obsessed love her! I swore I would never read a book on an electronic device because I love a physical book but that didn’t last. I’m reading The Andy Cohen Diaries(which is amazing) and have The Goldfinch downloaded when I’m done. The first few days of playing were watching cat videos and Travis was worried I wouldn’t use it for anything else. Luckily I’ve used her for tons more like stalking golden retriever fostering opportunities and recipes plus updating my calendar. It’s been a very busy time for Patti and me!

I love that you named your iPad! Too funny.

I’m definitely focused on being healthier in the new year. I have a competition in 10 weeks and I went full-force over the holidays. Oops… there was a lot to celebrate though. :)
