I’ve debated for a few weeks about how I can better incorporate my love of beauty products, what I’m learning in school about skin, tips and tricks on all things beauty and girly, as well as sharing empowering stories of women and any articles or stories I’ve read that inspires me(this one hasn’t happened but it will).
After much back and forth about when and how to put more of myself on the blog and not just recipes, daily workouts, or giving topics sparingly on skin, beauty, etc. I thought I’d make a weekly series. I already have so many ideas and have drafted the next month of posts for “Girly Things Thursday”.
If you’re thinking this is just going to be about makeup and clothes please get that out of your mind. I will have a few posts on beauty, but girly doesn’t=makeup. As much as I love trying new mascara or nail polish my mission for these weekly posts is more about showing how being a woman is making sure we’re true to ourselves and help empower one another. A few topics will include:
- Once a month power woman we should know
- Media must sees/reads- movies, books, or articles about women or women inspiring topics
- At home DIY masks and beauty treatments
- Product reviews(I will purchase these myself and give honest reviews, maybe even have a giveaway;)
- Skin tips and tricks
- And much more
For the first “Girly Things Thursday” I wanted to share one of my new favorite deals.
Birchbox.com is awesome sauce!
You pay $10 and get a box of goodies once a month. If you’re familiar with Foodzie.com, it’s kinda like that but with beauty products instead of food. If you’re not familiar, well you are now;)
I’m usually weary of websites that send you samples of stuff for a price because a lot of times the stuff they send is crap of nothing I would try normally so I don’t need to try. This was different and I was pleasantly surprised.
I have to admit the nail applique isn’t my thing, but the eye lash products were right up my alley. The samples included:
- Nail Applique
- Lash Card-helpful when putting on mascara so it doesn’t get on your lid( this is my #1)
- Lip balm- this will be great for the cooler drier weather.
If I like any of this stuff enough I can buy from them and earn points for free stuff. Free stuff = Happy Heather!
If you’re not into makeup then this is perfect for you because you can try so many new things and don’t have to pay full price or feel like you’re wasting. But if you are into makeup it’s the perfect way to find new things without scouring the department stores.
It’s the best way to spend an extra$10!
