First Fall Weekend

September 29, 2014

I don’t know about ya’ll, but I wasn’t ready for it to be Monday just yet.

I had the weekend off for the first time in a couple of months and it was so nice. My bestie came to visit and the weather was perfect! The forecast was gray all last week and it’s raining today so I was glad it was nice enough for us to enjoy our visit and not have to stay inside the whole time.

She got in late Friday night so I decided to hit the gym and did the below WOD(workout of the day).

friday wod

After doing the split squats and front squats my legs felt like noodles during the 400m run, but I needed a good leg workout after only working out once the entire week.

Saturday before we decided on where to go and what to do I took Hannah to Revolution Doughnuts for breakfast.

donuts

Doughnuts never disappoint and I always take out-of-town folks here. I got a crunchy mister, which is a savory bun filled with ham and topped with cheese that’s melted to perfection, and a toasted almond doughnut that I split with Travis. YUM!

It ended up being mostly overcast, but we made the most out of it and walked around my neighborhood fall festival, stopped by the farmer’s market, shopped around the city, ran a few errands, but most importantly just got to spend some QT together. We haven’t seen each other in almost a year because our schedules are so opposite. We’ve been friends since freshmen year of high school, lived together in college, met our husbands in the same month, were maid/matron of honor in each others weddings, etc. I’m so glad we got to see each other and have a weekend to just talk and hangout. And since we were so busy catching up we didn’t take any pics, but we talked about meeting up this Spring in either Savannah or Asheville for a weekend of R&R so I’ll get some then!

Sunday after Hannah left I made Travis and myself breakfast before we both started working on our own to do lists.

I bought the sausage the previous day from the farmer’s market and it was delicious! I don’t eat sausage often, but this was made in-house so no synthetic casing.

I was sore from the Friday workout but wanted to get in a run after doing some laundry and I got to use an app that Travis uses on his phone, Strava.

strava

I was glad to get the run done, but I was so sore from the workout that my legs just wouldn’t work with me. On top of that the route I took had a lot of traffic so I was stuck at a cross walk waiting for the pedestrian sign to turn for a good 5 minutes. Very annoying. Because of all that my splits were bad, but it also made me realize I needed a yoga class and fast!

I came home and had a snack of cottage cheese with pumpkin bread and pumpkin butter.

Protein and carbs was just what I needed and the perfect amount before taking a hot core yoga class.

yoga

I was in major need of any type of stretching after my run and I luckily had a free class card. I really need to make yoga more of a priority because I really love how I feel afterwards.

To end our first weekend of Fall I decided to make a light chopped salad with romaine, chicken, bacon, apples, dried cranberries, pumpkin seeds, and topped with Honey Dijon vinaigrette.

I’m going to make a huge batch of this and take for work for the week. It’s so easy, good, and filling. And it’s seasonal!

Such a great first weekend of the season and I hope the rest are just like it!

How did you spend your first weekend of Fall?

That crunchy mister is calling my name! Yum!!!

I know I need to do yoga… but I just can’t get excited about it. Whomp whomp.

We should all go hiking one weekend! I love the mountains in the fall.

You should totally get one, it’s so great! I always get it to go and add an egg(except for this time).

I’m totally down for a hike. That would be so fun!
