DIY Weekend

June 11, 2012

Travis and I bought our loft a couple of years ago knowing we would have many DIY projects to tackle. It’s not a fixer-upper, but we do have a few things we’d like to remodel. We decided this weekend was as good as any to get started so I took to the closet doors while Travis took to the heavy stuff.

Having my house under construction and having our furniture in slight disarray gives me slight anxiety, but I know it’s only temporary. We are giving ourselves until the end of July(for phase 1, at least) so that isn’t all that bad. If we didn’t have a deadline I would probably freak out.

The rest of the weekend was pretty much spent working on our Summer renovation, dodging the on and off again rain, laundry, and the best part, ordering out for lunch!

I love having weekend projects because that usually means I don’t have to cook! Although I love cooking, making a meal on top of having my house under construction is not fun and I avoid it at all costs. For lunch we had sandwiches from a shoppe next door. I also picked up dinner from there at the same time knowing dinner would be not so homemade either;)

I didn’t take a picture of it, but we had their homemade meatloaf and I roasted some sweet potatoes as a side. We needed comfort food after a long day and enjoyed it in front of the TV watching parts 2 & 3 of Hatfields & McCoys. We both liked it, but of course, didn’t know a lot about the families. Usually when there’s a bio movie of some kind I end up researching the person/people afterwards to find out more but I don’t think I will this time. They didn’t grab me like the Elizabeth movies or J. Edgar.

Sunday I didn’t get as much done due to rain, but that was fine with Harper and me.

I ended up grocery shopping instead, which is always fun on a rainy Sunday…NOT! But now we have a stocked fridge and meals planned out for the week!

To top off the end of a Hudgens family DIY weekend we grabbed ice cream after dinner with friends.

By ice cream I mean I had mango sorbet. It was awesome and dairy free! I thought a small was going to be too small, but turns out it was just the right size.

How was your weekend? Do you have any summer projects planned?

Weekend projects can be so much fun, because you’ll get to show off the finished product and you did it yourself! :)
