Beginning of Summer

May 28, 2012

Memorial Day in our house ended with a treat on this really hot day/weekend.

I gave Travis half of mine (his was blackberry ginger lemonade) because I’m such a great wife. And because he said he tasted cream in it. DAMN YOU LACTOSE AND YOUR EVIL YET DELICIOUS WAYS! It was still amazing!

Travis had the day off so on my way home from work I picked these up before having dinner. Dessert is always best when had first;) Travis had a long day of golf(poor thing), so I thought popsicles would be a nice surprise.

He surprised me this morning by bringing some Flying Biscuit home for breakfast! I love those things!

Everyone was closed this morning when he took Harper on a walk to grab coffee beans and he had to walk all over the neighborhood to find someone open that had coffee. Neither one of us are happy campers when we don’t have our coffee so ┬áluckily he came home with cups for each of us and everything was right as rain.

I was bummed I couldn’t spend the day outside, but the day at work flew by so it wasn’t all bad. I always feel like Memorial Day is the beginning of Summer even if it’s still “technically” Spring.

As a kid it was around this time pools would open, you could finally take advantage of the longer days playing outside, and you didn’t have to worry about reading or homework because school was out!

As an adult I still love when I get to take advantage of the long days and playing in the sun(with spf), but now I look forward to those summer books. There isn’t anything on TV during this time of year that I want to watch, except The Closer and Braves games, of course, so I’ve got my stack of books ready and waiting for me to get started.

I have so many that I’ve been waiting to read so I’ll start with these guys;) A few I’ve already started but need to start all over for them to make sense, it’s been a while.

All I need now is a nice porch or hammock and an iced tea and my Summer is complete.
